  • Deep sea foraminifera: Scanning electron micrograph of foraminifera collected from the deep sea off Venezuela. Initial examination of this species indicates it has interesting and novel adaptations to live in a "hostile" environment.

  • Porpita porpita has a small disc like body and floats freely in the water column. Related to the jellyfish, this species measures just one inch in diameter.

  • This Chrysaora jelly was spotted on the ROV’s return to the surface. Unfortunately, it was too large to capture with the suction sampler.
